    As of March 2020 more and more educational institutions are forced to move education online as a result of COVID-19 concerns. Consequently, many teachers have to quickly move their education and assessments online. We are dedicated to help our partners and any affected educational institutions in their process of moving computing education online. We have therefore decided to offer CodeGrade’s online assessment platform for free for affected educational institutions for the remainder of the 2019/2020 academic year. No strings attached.

    CodeGrade founders Youri Voet and Devin Hillenius had the pleasure to have two talks on the 19th and 20th of November last year during the first MoodleMoot Global. During these two sessions, we had the chance to go over both ways of grading that are made possible within CodeGrade: feedback-oriented automatic grading and efficient and insightful manual grading. We briefly go over both of these and also discuss how to optimally combine these ways of grading in our last talk.

    In the first week of the new year, the CodeGrade team spent a couple of days in Durham, a beautiful medieval town in the Northeast of England, to talk about innovating computer science education in Blackboard during the Durham Blackboard User Conference (or DURBBU) and to attend the Computing Education Practice conference (or CEP).

    Just before Christmas, we’re excited to announce a new release: Knoet.1. This release features a complete redesign of the hand in page for students, making it much simpler and easier to use. Besides that, you can now import AutoTest configurations and the ESLint linter is available now.

    We’re very excited to announce a new major release: Knoet. This release now makes it possible to hand in via GitHub or GitLab, making it possible to get Continuous Feedback after every push. We’ve also added the possibility to write files from AutoTest to the Code Viewer, making it possible to, for example, run Jupyter Notebooks and aid manual grading.

    The CodeGrade team attended the SURF Onderwijsdagen 2019 for the past two days with a booth in the Wacky Learning Space. SURF Onderwijsdagen is all about innovating higher education in the Netherlands with technology, naturally we felt exactly in the right place during these days.

    After the extensive use of CodeGrade AutoTest and in collaboration with teachers using AutoTest and Continuous Feedback, we have been able to better integrate AutoTest and Continuous Feedback. Making it easier and more intuitive to use. Besides this, we have fixed and improved many minor things in release JungleJoy.4.
